Challenge #129 - "Clean and Simple" - Pink Gem Challenge

Good Morning Gemsters, over on the Pink Gem Challenge Blogspot we are now onto our Challenge #129 and this time we want you to create a "Clean and Simple" card and of course we are being sponsored by Janet of Pink Gem Designs

http://www.pinkgemdesigns.com/catalog/
And I decided to used this gorgeous image "Angelique"

I printed Angelique (and you will find her here,) onto white card then coloured it with my Copic pens and then cut her out with Nestabilitie Die Label No.1 and then I used a fancy one for the mount.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card and for my first mount I have used a piece of white pearlescent card and then used a Embossing Folder to create the pattern on it, then around the middle I have wrapped a piece of pink ribbon and attached it to the back of the first mount.
The mounted image was then placed in the middle and the sentiment has been stamped onto another piece of white card and mounted on a diecut from another Nestabilitie die.
Now that youve seen my card I do hope that you will pay a visit to the Pink Gem Challenge Blogspot site and see what the rest of the very talented Design Team have created for your inspiration and hopefully you to will want to take part in this "Clean and Simple" Challenge.

Challenge #175 - "A Card of Many Folds" - The Paper Shelter

Good Morning Paper Fellow Followers, well a lot has happened since my last Challenge for The Paper Shelter, we have been away to Guernsey for a week spending time with my friends and their little lad Nicolas, we had a really fabulous time and the weather was just perfect, thank you so much Jo and Stephen for having us. Also my eldest grandson has returned from Afghanistan and I do so hope that this will be his last posting there, I believe hes actually had three and I know he misses his son so much to, so lets hope the RAF officially leave by Christmas as theyve promised.
Anyway this weeks Challenge over on The Paper Shelter is "A Card of Many Folds" so I will show you my interpretation in a moment but first you will want to know who our sponsors are and they are Veronica and Pedro of The Paper Shelter and they are offering a fabulous prize of $30.

http://www.thepapershelter.com/

But as always this comes with the rule that you must have used one of their products on your card and that could be either a Image, Paper or Printable but even if you havent they will still give you three digi images of your own choice. Their library at The Paper Shelter website is full of surprises and the value against the £ is just unbelievable so do pay them a visit and browse for yourself.
And now for my card

I do apologise for the side of the card being in shadow I meant to take another photo but couldnt find the card so I do hope it wont spoil your view of it. I have used this gorgeous "The Time of My Life" image (remind you of anything?) and you will find them here, I printed them onto white card and coloured it with my copic pens, afterwards I used a Nestabilitie rectangle die to cut them out and a fancy one for the mount out of pink card.
The base card is basically a 6.50"x 6.50" white card thats been folded twice to create this gateleg card, and the papers are from The Paper Shelters "The Happy Couple" and you will find them here, and I used two papers a pink and a blue patterned design, and these were mounted onto pink card and put inside and on the two sections in the front.
The mounted image was placed on the very front one over the fold, and the sentiment is a stamped one and this was also placed on a mount of pink card and then placed on the back section in the bottom right hand corner. To finish of I have used three different sized pearls in the top and bottom corners that I could reach.
Now that youve seen my card I do hope that you will pay a visit to The Paper Shelter Challenge Blogspot and see what the rest of the very talented Design Team have created for your inspiration and hopefully you to will want to take part in this "A Card of Many Folds" Challenge.

The base card is a 6.50" x 6.50" white card and the mount is a piece of purple card and the papers are from Sweetshoppe digi set, and I then placed around the middle a piece of lace and attached it to the back of the first mount. The mounted image was placed in the center and the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner.
The flower spray was a number of different coloured cosmo daisies and placed in a spray in the top left hand corner and at the bottom I have placed a blue bow and to finish of I have used two butterflies that have been punched out with a punch and pearls in the top left and right hand bottom corners.

Challenge #169 - "Punches and Dies" - The Paper Shelter

Good Morning Fellow Crafters Ive been so busy over the last 3 weeks that I dont know if Im on my head or my heals, firstly I had my grandsons Daniel and Oliver to stay for a week, and no sooner had they gone home when I had 6 samples to create for my friend Sarah Hallam of Peerless Designs ready for her showcase TV program on Create and Craft in September so I really wanted to get ahead before going a way last weekend and that was to the Great Craft Show at Stoneleigh Park, Im so glad we went Saturday and not Sunday as the weather on Sunday was dreadful we experienced it coming back from Northampton and its not one I would like to do again.
As I told you back in May that I had a problem with my left eye, now unfortunately the same problem has occured in my right, its called PVD which means the jelly thats attached to the back of your eye "the retina" has become detached and floats around in your eye, but the problem with this right eye was it tore a hole as it became detached, I have now got to wait till Wednesday (today) to discover whether it has taken as it had to be lasered back in place and sometimes it causes the whole retina to become detached and as you can guess more problems.
Well this isnt getting my card posted so I had better pull my finger out and get a move on, this weeks Challenge over on The Paper Shelter Challenge Blogspot is all about using "Punches and Dies" on your card and as always our very generous sponsors are Veronica and Pedro of The Paper Shelter

http://www.thepapershelter.com/

And they are offering a fabulous prize of $30 to spend on their website providing you have used one of their products on your card, but even if you havent and you are chosen by Random Org you will still receive 3 digi images of your own choice, you really cannot loose can you?
Anyway here is the card I have made for this particular Challenge, hope you like the result.

This little sweetie is "Si Belle" and you will find her here, I have printed her of and then coloured her with my copic pens before cutting her out with one of my rectangle Nestabilitie Dies, and used a larger one for the mount out of red card.
I have also used the backing paper that came with this image and again you will then here, I have used just the one paper and mounted it on a piece of red card, and afterwards used a piece of pink card and a Martha Steward Lace Border punch to create the border at the top of my card. I then used a Marianne die to cut out the Eiffel Tower and placed in the bottom left hand corner, and in the bottom right I have cut a Tattered Lace Rose die and stuck it there.
I then placed my mounted image in the center and printed a sentiment of from my computer and placed it in the bottom right hand corner, and the final finish is the spotted ribbon bow in the top left hand corner.
Now that youve seen my Card I do hope that you will pay a visit to The Paper Shelter Challenge Blogspot and see what the rest of my very talented Design Team have created for your inspiration and hopefully you to will want to take part in this "Punches and Dies" Challenge.

Creative Bloggers Hop

Creative Blog Hop

I’ve been asked by my very dear friend Elaine to join in with the Creative Bloggers hop. It’s a continuous Hop Every Monday with a host of Different Inspirational Bloggers taking part each week.

Elaine and I are great friends and I can’t remember when I first met her but it would have been through our blogs, and over time we have come to know each other a lot more and last year I even managed a visit to her home to meet her face to face and her husband Phil, who’s a great photographer and their very handsome son Hal. Elaine is so brilliantly talented and her cards are so beautiful and stunning and shes such a inspiration to us all. And it’s been a great pleasure not only knowing her personally but also having such a wonderful friend as well and being able to chat by email and talk over things that are going on in our lives, and to let you into a secret I call her my adopted daughter.

                                    What am I working on?

I’m just about to make a start on some samples for another of my friends Sarah Hallam of Peerless Design’s, she is due to have a preview programme on Create and Craft in September with her brand new Tangletastic CD and I am looking forward to playing with all the new images she has created on it.

How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I suppose I am rather one of the old style card creators, firstly I like to find an image to use and then colour it with the colours that I feel look right for it.  I also like to have several layers/mounts and try to use different papers for them and layer them up to give the card depth. I also use my dies and punches if at all possible, and my greatest loves are flowers and ribbons and will try to incorporate them on my girly cards as much as possible. Though if it’s a clean and simple card I will just use a ribbon and probably a embossing folder. And the one thing that I will strive to find is a good sentiment and have been known to google my theme to find one that’s appropriate.

                           Why do I write/create what I do?

Often the reason I create cards is firstly because as I’m on three Design Teams and I have cards to make for the coming Challenges, the themes are chosen for me and I will then have to decide what I feel is the right image, paper and design for that card or project.  I must also admit that I do look around at other peoples designs to give me ideas and see what the “in” thing is at the moment and try and then create my own design from them, and I must admit that I always colour my image first and then look for papers that look best and appropriate to go with it, and of course then comes the Challenge to plan a card design with them.

Now its time to pick three bloggers that inspire me, unfortunately I have been unable to find anyone to carry on the blog hop post but I do have several wonderful crafters that I would like to showcase who I have found extremely inspirational to me, and they are firstly Heidy, who’s colouring is out of this world and one beautiful person who I worked with her as a Guest Designer on one of the Challenge Blogs, Marie, who I co-run as Design Team Leaders for The Paper Shelter, she works so hard and is a beautiful and stunning card creator even though shes not always in the best of health and Lorraine, whos one very beautiful and stunning card creator, I have worked with her on several Design Teams and have not only found a wonderful friend but also someone you can depend on in a emergency as she’s always willing to step in when needed. I do have several other very talented blogger friends who inspire me all the time and they are Marianne, Tracy, Julie, Gail and Patty Sue.
I sincerely hope you will forgive me for not being able to carry on the Bloggers Hop but anyone of these beautiful crafters is worth following as their work is just stunning and they are such wonderful friends as well.
