Cards for Men - Challenge 18 - Long Summer Days

Before I start this post I have an apology to give out, Ive got some sample cards to create for my dear friend Sarah Hallam of http://www.spanglefish.com/peerlessdesigns/newreleases.asp, she has a brand new CD coming out on Create and Craft on the 16th September, so Im a bit tied up and not able to post or visit my followers at the moment I do so hope you will forgive me, but Im hoping in the next few days to give you more details of the CD and I will be posting some of the samples for you to see, and hopefully encourage you to watch the program and buy it.
Anyway its another challenge date for Cards for Men and I carnt believe that its 10 months since Donna started these challenges and weve been so lucky to have at least over 30 entrants each time, but here we are at Number 18 and the theme is "Long Summer Days" and this fortnight we are being sponsered by Phindys of http://www.phindysplace.com/
Phindy has generously offered us a prize of $10, and this is what she says about herself :-

Phindy's Place Digi Stamps is where you can find hundreds of beautifully drawn and detailed images for all your handmade card, scrapbook and paper crafting projects. Digi stamping is a new endeavor for children's book illustrator Philomena O'Neill and she enjoys drawing charming line images for crafters to color and embellish for their own creative efforts. Philomena likes to think of this as a collaboration between two artists. Please stop by at Phindy's Place, you are going to find images you love!

Heres my DT card created for this challenge, its one of Phindys own fabulous digi stamps, I do so hope that you will like it.
I love this little lad fishing with his dad, he looks so sweet and so happy, Ive printed him out onto coated white card and coloured his with my copic pens, after which Ive cut him out with my Nestabilitie die Label No.8 then drawn around the edge of the die to create the mount for it.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of blue card, and one of three papers from the DCWV card stack "All about Boys", the first one is a striped pattern of several colours, the second is a red base with spots on, this was mounted square on red card but the corners have been punched with the Martha Steward family punch, the third mount is yet another red piece of card but this paper pattern is a check one, this was laid in a diamond shape and my mounted image was then stuck on top in the centre.
To finish of Ive stuck several fishing buttons around the corners, and the sentiment is one that I had in my stash which has been mounted onto a piece of blue card, but around the edge of the sentiment Ive used a red pen.
I do so hope that you will pop over to Cards for Men and see the fabulous and stunning creations that my fellow Design Team members have created for this challenge, and hopefully it will also encourage you to take part as well, with the chance to win this fabulous prize from Phindy.

A Card for two Challenges

Good Morning Ladies, well the weather has turned really awful here so I dont expect its going to improve over the bank holiday but you never know, poor hubby has got soaked through a couple of times over the last couple of days but I suppose thats the problem with our weather, our summers are never quite what you expect.
Anyway todays card has been created for Mos "Halloween Hoots" and Cute Card Thursdays "Dieing for a Punch" and Ive used this new Kai image from Mo for this card, Ive coloured it with my copic pens then cut it out with the large Pumpkin Nestabilitie die, then used the die to draw around for the mount. The sentiment is one from my stash and this also was cut out using the tag die from Spellbinders.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card and for the first mount Ive used a orange card and one of four papers from Nitwit Downloads "Eeriesistable" set, the first one is a blue base with several different colour squares over it, the second is a green and grey paper with diamond shapes on, on this Ive used the spider web corner and border punch and stuck it on top of the first mount, the third paper is a blue, orange and white stripped paper and Ive used a bat corner and drippy glue punch on the edges and corner, the fourth paper is a black paper with again blocks of colour over it, on this one Ive used the spider corner and border punches on again this was off set against the third paper.
Ive then positioned my sentiment at the bottom and punched through the holes for the staples which were threaded through and opened at the back, the mounted image was then stuck in the middle, to finish of Ive stuck some buttons around the image, a black cat at the bottom and a pirates flag at the top on the right, and a halloween badge at the top on the left.

A Card for Crafters Companion Challenge

Good Morning Ladies well here we are again with yet another challenge card, this one is for the Crafters Companion Monthly Challenge, a sketch by our dear friend Bev, a really lovely design and I hope Ive done it justice. I was lucky enough to win the last challenge and this is the stamp I chose its called Patchwork Polly, and Ive stamped her onto smooth white card and coloured her with my copic pens then cut her out with my circle die and mounted her onto a piece of pink scalloped card. The sentiment is from the same set of stamps a really lovely one, this was also mounted onto a square scalloped card.
The card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first mount of pink card, Ive used three of the papers from the Crafters Companion Florals Cd, the first one is an all over daisy pattern, and then on top of this the second mount is a pink, blue and white check pattern, and this was stuck on top of the first mount as the sketch shows, across the centre Ive used these two and another daisy paper to create three strips that have been punched with the lace edged Martha Stewart border punch and then across the top of these three Ive stuck a gingham ribbon and attached it to the back of the first mount.
The mounted image was then positioned in the centre, and my sentiment below it in the middle. The floral arrangement is a very large red/pink daisy with four asters arranged either side of it, this was stuck to the bottom right hand corner of the mount. Ive also created a swirl in the top left hand corner with some pink gems and my Bazzil design cards.

A Card for Kennys Challenge

Good Morning Ladies, well here we are another week started, these weeks are going by so quickly before you know it, it will be Christmas again. I hope youve all had a lovely weekend, yesterday was beautiful the sun was hot and I sat in the garden for a little while and did a bit of sewing. Hubby got back from his volunteering and was in better spirits than I expected it seemed the thick socks saved his ankle, but he seemed a bit dissappointed that he wasnt a lot stronger than he expected, it seemed they were digging holes for posts so that they could put up a fence, and he was saying that he found the carrying of gravel for the hole was very tiring he wasnt as strong as he thought he was, hes 65 what does he expect.
Anyway todays card has been created for Kennys Challenge, this week is Donnas sketch (from Bearlymine Designs) a really lovely simple one, Ive even used three of her gorgeous papers. The digi stamp Devastatia was printed onto smooth white card and coloured with my copic pens, Ive used a circle spellbinders die to cut her out and a scalloped one for the mount. The sentiment is one from my stash its a selection of girl stamps ideal for this image.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card, with a first mount of pink card with two of the papers from Donna, one is a pale pink paper from her new designs released this weekend called Plain Simple and the second one of her pretty pink rose stripped pattern, these were split and layed on this first mount, across the middle Ive used one of her plaid designs but have used one of the Martha Stewart border punches along the edge. On the other edge Ive used a piece of ribbon and attached it to the back of the first mount.
On top of this Ive stuck my mounted image in the centre and my sentiment at the bottom on the right, Ive used three large gems across the centre on the right, and finished of the card with a floral spray of roses and wild cheery blossom flowers that were stuck to the card with some punched out leaves and silicone glue.

A Card for two Challenges

Good Morning Ladies, my blog was playing up this morning didnt want to post my photo, and after five attempts it eventually gave me five photos, anyway Ive now hopefully got it sorted and weve only got the one. The update on hubbys day is he enjoyed himself and has gone back again today though he seems to be having problems with his steelcap boots they are making his ankles hurt I image hes going to be in a lot of pain when he gets home today. I gather his job was rubbing down the paintwork on the level crossing gates ready for painting, as I said its all volunteering jobs and anything goes, I carnt see him rubbing down paintwork at home that seems to be left for me to do.
Anyway todays card has been created for this weeks Just Magnolia Challenge "Let get Sentimental" and Stampin for the Weekends "Anything goes", Ive used this lovely image of Tilda going of on holiday with her case, and Ive used my copic pens to colour her then used my Label Die No.9 to cut her out and drew around the edge of the die for the mount. The sentiment is one from my stash, this has also been cut out with a small die and the mount was cut and mounted across the back of the sentiment.
The card is a 7"x 7" white card thats been created into an easel card, and the papers Ive used are from Kay Millers "Wings" downloads, a very pretty lilac paper with loads of butterflies and flowers on, this was used on both of the sides of the easel card, and on top of this is another paper from the same set a pretty yellow pattern with circles on, for the inside Ive created a strip and for the front a square and with my Martha Stewart border and corner punch Ive cut around the edges of both and layed them up on top. Ive then used a piece of ribbon and on top of this a strip of lace with another narrower ribbon threaded through the holes and attached around the middle of the front mount, on top of this is the mounted stamped image, and the sentiment was stuck in the centre of the strip on the inside.
To finish of Ive created a flower spray from roses and heather and stuck to the card with silicone glue, the last thing is the three gems down the side on the right hand side.
This card is to be entered in the following challenges:-

Before I sign of Ive got some very big thank yous to give to Janette of http://little-boscraftyplace.blogspot.com/ and Christine of http://nanaseaside.blogspot.com/ for the Award below both these ladies are extremely talented and I urge you to give both of these blogs a visit to see for yourself.

A Card for Many Challenges

Morning Girls, hope you are enjoying your weekend, my hubby has gone of to our local Steam Engine restoration place to volunteer his talents to try and restore the signal box in Lydney, he loves anything to do with steam and I feel this will give him an hobby in which he can satisfy his loss of not being able to work full time, hes retired and he feels rather redundant to society. Anyway we shall see when he gets home tonight whether hes enjoyed himself, I do so hope he has.
Anyway todays card has been created for Mos "Thank heaven for little girls" and Cute Card Thursdays "Sketch by Fran", Ive used this little sweetheart called "Bossy" from Mo Manning, and have printed her onto coated 200gsm card (from Rymans) and then coloured her with my copic pens. I know a lot of you are still having problems with smudging when colouring printed images, I actually use compatible inks from 365 ink and dont have any problems with it, but I do use a coated smooth card rather than just any card and I think this might be the answer to the smudging. Anyway Ive cut her out with my large rectangle die from Spellbinders and used the same on the sentiment which was generated on my computer, both of these were mounted onto some yellow pearlescent card which has been cut using a scalloped die.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of blue card with three papers from Kay Millers Downloads, this one is called "Its a Spring Thing" the first pattern is a pretty all over flower paper, the second mount is a yellow background with blue and white flowers on, this was stuck on yellow card and placed across the base layer, the third mount is a piece of blue pearlescent card put through my cuttlebug with an embossing folder, but Ive also layed another paper from the same set a pretty blue paper with yellow flowers on, both edges have had two different border punches used on it, under this third mount.
The mounted image was stuck in the centre and my sentiment at the bottom on the right, to finish of Ive created two sprays of roses, one at the top of the left and one at the bottom on the same side, these were stuck onto some silicone glue with a few punched out leaves. The final thing is the two yellow pearls stuck at the top on the right.

Card for LOV Challenge - Bevs sketch

Good Afternoon Ladies, well the last few days have been busy for me and hubby, weve been preparing for our new washing machine, we were under the impression it was going to be delivered today but like all good promises it didnt arrive and now we are having to wait till next Friday, lets hope they dont let us down again as Im extremely dissappointed. We cleared out the back porch on Wednesday, I painted the walls and woodwork and then had some new lino laid ready. We then had to put the old washing machine back which wasnt on the cards but there you are it never turns out like you expect does it. Oh well at least after spending three days outside in the pouring rain, the washing machine at least did work first time after being being reinstalled which is a godsend as I had a pile of washing to do.
Anyway lets get away from that and get one with my card today, its for the Lili of the Valley Challenge "A sketch by Bev" and A Spoonfull of Sugars "Christmas in August", Ive used this cute little dog whos trying to post a card, mind you Ive yet to meet a dog that can do that but there you are perhaps you know better. Anyway Ive coloured it with my promarkers and glittered the snow with some glue and glitter. Then cut it out with my square Nestabilitie die and make a mount out of some red card and a scalloped one, the sentiment is done in the same way but this time Ive used a ribbon tag die and threaded some stary ribbon through the holes.
The base card is a 6"x 6" white card with a first layer of red card and one of two papers from the new Dovecraft  "Let it Snow" pad, its a mixture of double sided and glitter patterns on card rather than paper. This first one is a red pattern with penquins on and on top of this Ive put a piece of green card and a second pattern which is a cream and red Christmas tree design. Ive wrapped the ribbon with sentiment around this piece and attached it to the back, this was then positioned at the bottom of the first mount. The mounted image was then mounted at the top and some red gem stars stuck either side in the top corners.

A Card for LOV Challenge - Seasons

Good Morning Ladies I carnt tell you how many times I tried to photo this card it was many and this is the best of the bunch, because I used glitter on the image and silver mirri board it was glaring with the flash, and fuzzying up without, so please forgive the bad photo.
Anyway todays card has been made for the Seasons Challenge from Lili of the Valley, and Ive used this cute little fairy carrying a present for someone, Ive coloured her with my copic pens then cut her out with a star nestabilitie die, then used the same shape for the mount from mirri board, the sentiment has been done in the same way, then stuck together offset.
The base card is a 6"x 6" white card with a first layer of red card and one of three papers from the new Dovecrafts Jolly Happy Christmas set, a pretty all over pattern of santas and bears etc, the second paper is a sentiment one and the third a start one, across this one Ive stuck a ribbon with holly on and attached it to the back.
I then positioned my sentiment at the bottom on the right and the image at the top towards the left hand side, to finish of Ive stuck two sets of two poinsettas on some silicone glue with some punched out leaves underneath.

Cards for Men - Challenge 17 -Decoupage

Challenge 17 is being sponsered by "Donna of Donna's Den" our very respected and well loved Team Leader, and this is what she says about herself :-

Donna's Den of Crafts is a family-run business where we aim to please.  We stock a wide range of  cardmaking and scrapbooking items from Dovecraft, Joanna Sheen, Crafter's Companion, Spellbinders.....to name but a few.  Our prices are reasonable and p&p is only £1.  Most in-stock orders are dispatched next working day.  Why not pop along and take advantage of a 10% discount for the duration of this challenge.  Just enter the code CFM0410 in your shopping basket.

Donna is offering a prize of £10 approx.15$ for this Challenge.

This Challenge is all about Decoupage and Ive used one of the La Pashe designs, its from the series of "Remember When" images of days gone by, Ive used this one which I particular like of an old chap repairing his motorbike and in the background is a old tram, bus stop and bus inspector, Im sure its not a policeman as I dont remember ever seeing our police dressed like that, anyway heres my card.

Ive created a A5 card and used some red mirri board for my first mount then the decoupage was cut out by hand and with Pinflair silicone glue Ive mounted up the layers, I did mould some of the pieces to surround the figures rather than just pop them flat on top.
The greeting is also from the same sheets and this was also mounted onto a piece of the red mirri board and stuck at the top of the card on the right. Ive posted a side on view to give you an idea of the layers that have been mounted up.
I do so hope that your will pop across to http://cardsformen.blogspot.com/ and see what fabulous cards our Design Team members have created for your pleasure and inspiration.

Another Card for Many Challenges

Good Evening Ladies, sorry this is a bit late today but its been a busy day for us, we went shopping in Cardiff which is a 42 mile journey from home, (we do a months shopping in one go) and then when we got back I had to put it away, I hate to think how many times Id picked up this shopping but Im so glad its now its all in the cupboard. The next thing hubby and I decided to do was, as its been such a beautiful day we would do some gardening and cut down the Wisteria and Jasmine from around the front room window, hopefully to make the Wisteria bloom, its not done that yet, so its taken drastic measures on my part, it will or it wont, and if it wont its going to be dug up in a years time. Then I decided to do a pile of ironing which I hate, I had 3 sets of duvet covers and pillowcases (the remaining legacy of the grandchildrens visit) to do and eight of my hubbys shirts so Im rather late getting this card done so I do apologise for that.
Anyway Ive decided to enter this card in a couple of challenges the first is Kennys "Bold and Bright"one, and then Sir Stampalots "Bring on the Bling" which I feel it will cover both of those quite easily. Ive used this image of Kennys not sure at the moment whats shes called but shes a sweetheart, Ive used my copic pens to colour her and Ive then cut her out with my Spellbinders dies, the sentiment is one of my stash ones and its been cut out in the same way.
The base card is 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of blue card and one of three papers from Kay Millers Downloads this set is called "Hey Girlfriend" a very pretty white paper with flower sprays in several colours, the second paper is a pink one mounted on pink card with the corners punched out, the third layer is another of the papers in fact its the same pattern as the first one but in blue, Ive used a border and corner punches on this one. Across the middle Ive stuck two strips of lace with a middle crochet strip in the centre and attached them to the back of the first layer, Ive then stuck my sentiment at the bottom on the right and my mounted image in the middle.
To finish of Ive created a flower spray with several different coloured roses in pink and blue and mounted it onto my card with silicone glue and a few punched out leaves. The last thing Ive done is stuck down two gem swirls in both the top and bottom opposite corners, to give it bling. Hope you like the end result.
Im entering this card in the following challenges:-

My first Challenge Card

Good Afternoon Ladies, well Ive eventually got there even if I have been a bit slow arriving I do so hope you like my first card for three weeks, and this one Im going to enter Mos Challenge "Inspirational" and Im going to try Cute Cards Thursday Challenge "Trees", as there is a lot of branches and leaves in this one.
Ive used this gorgeous image from Mo of these two young teenagers chatting, and after having my granddaughter for a week I can just image her with her friend whispering to each other like this and in these outradgeous colours but this is the range of colours you are expected to use in the challenge.
Ive used My Minds Eye papers and the card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of orange card with the first of three papers, this one is a pretty green base colour with loads of coloured leaves on, the second paper is a green striped one side with a orange flower pattern on the back, this I have folded back and used a leave border punch from Martha Stewart. The third paper is a lovely paisley and flower pattern Ive also used the same border punch along one edge and stuck in on top of the second paper across the seam Ive stuck a orange daisy ribbon and attached it to the back of the first mount.
Ive then mounted my image onto a circle punch die cut from Marianne in green card and this was then positioned on my card towards the top, a sentiment greeting at the bottom on the right hand side. To finish of Ive created a flower spray with cherry blossoms, asters and other flowers plus some sprays of gems and stuck it at the top on the left hand side.
Im entering this card into the following challenges:-

Hi Girls Im back from the Beyond

I must apologise to you ladies for not posting anything since last Thursday, but after dropping of my two grandchildren in Oxford we zoomed of to London and Kent to visit yet two more grandchildren, young Seraphie above on Saturday and Danu on Sunday.
As it was her 2nd birthday on Friday we bought her, her first baby doll and as you can see from the photo she enjoyed feeding it with those magic bottles where the milk dissappears in the teat when you lift it up.
Since we got back on Tuesday Ive been struggling to get my desktop back to some sort of use, as I lost all my upto date photos and work plus all the programes I regularly use, and of course those dreaded verification codes and registrations that you have to go through to get it all working, anyway I think Im about 90% there now and hopefully later today I will be able to start making my cards again "with any luck" thank you all for being so patient. With love and hugs Shirleyxxxxxxxxxxx

Thursday, 5 August 2010

Well today is the last Day of Photos

As you can see my grandson and granddaughter have been climbing again, I asked my hubby to take Taylor and Joe out for a couple of hours while I did some washing, and guess what they started of on the local Sculpture trail, which starts from Beachenhurst Car Park, in the Forest of Dean and they got  as far as visiting two of the exhibits and then came across this climbing tower and you can guess the rest, they didnt go any further. Ive a feeling they were enjoying this more than they would have walking around all the rest of the sculptures as Ive already said to keep these two on the ground is impossible.
Anyway this is the last day of photos as they are of back to mum tomorrow and we are then making our way down to London and Kent to visit yet more grandchildren and their parents plus also visiting a couple of friends of mine which Im really looking forward to.
I hopefully will be back to crafting with any luck in a weeks time, but Ive still got to rebuilt my destop computer and have quite a number of programes still to instal, so I will say goodbye for now, and hope that youve enjoyed meeting my grandchildren and seeing what theyve been upto. Take care with love and hugs Shirleyxxxxx

We might as well get it over and done with and then we might just be able to get back to some sort of normality again, at the moment my computer is still out of action and Im having to compete with my hubby for his desktop.

We are lucky to have a wonderful Design Team and you can see all their fabulous creations and take part in monthly prize challenges on the blog at http://www.squigglestamps.blogspot.com/

The Design Team were lucky to have been given a fabulous image to play with, this challenge is all about adventures, either going on holiday or even playing a game which most little ones love to do, and mine is no different Ive created a little lad playing Spacemen and hes with his best friend, his dog.

Ive printed him onto white card before colouring him with both my copic and promarker pens, then cut him out with my square Nestabilitie dies, the sentiment is one that I bought a little while ago its a mixture of things to do with space and robots and felt it was exactly right for this card, its a mixture of several different phrases mounted together. Before mounting both of these onto the green card Ive used a pale green inkpad around the edges.
The base card is a 7"x 7" white card with a first layer of Green card and one of three papers from the "All about Boys" stack by DCWV, this one is a space set, and the first paper is a yellow one with stars, planets rockets and even spacemen on it, the second mount is a piece of red card and a red, blue, green and yellow plaid and the third a circle pattern with a glitter dot in the centres this was also mounted onto a piece of yellow card and stuck across the card at the bottom. My mounted image was then positioned in the centre and my sentiment at the bottom on the right. To finish of Ive stuck three buttons down the right hand side a spaceship and two stars.
I do so hope that you will pop over to the http://cardsformen.blogspot.com/ and see the rest of the Design Teams fabulous work, as Im sure they will inspire you to create something for this challenge.
